I have owned many many cameras over the years and I have to say the Nikon D90 is still an excellent camera that can be picked up for a great price these days. Image quality,AF, and overall performance is all still very current. The camera really surprised me on just how effective it is a photography tool despite being around since 2009. Video is limited compared to to latest cameras but at least it has the option if you need it. Stills is where it shines though and the colour reproduction, noise control and white balance etc is perfect for most people so overall a great camera from Nikon worthy of its status.

My daughter asked for a DSLR to use with her school exam work. I managed to win at auction a used D90 with the original 18-105mm lens in almost as new condition with only 8000+ actuations or photos taken. The lens mechanism should be good for 100,000 shots. Although the HD video performance does not match that of the budget new DSLR cameras the photo capability and handling of the D90 is still as good as when the camera was first released. We added a 35mm F1.8G lens for indoor low light and general use and the whole package is a brilliant introduction to the complications of DSLR use at a budget price.
